Guess who has a brand new smartphone.
Just bought an HTC Incredible S. I've set it up (mostly, updating some things), but I'm a bit at a loss as to what I'm supposed to do with it. It has all these apps but I've no idea what do with them. Perhaps they'll be useful later I suppose.
I was actually set on buying the HTC Desire S (they're almost the same but Incredible S is slightly larger, and has a better camera, more megapixels and HD and all that).
After going to several stores to find it, a few phone geeks in the graduate lab pointed me to a well known store in Dahyeh, which is supposed to be the mother of all stores and sells phones at wholesale prices. So I went there, and after waiting for my turn in a small but crowded store (even on a Saturday afternoon) for 10 minutes, found out they only had it in red. I don't have a problem with red, but I just didn't like it very much. It's appearance that is. It was too small.
So I asked to see the Desire HD, which is the same but with a better display all HD and stuff. It was too big.
And then I was getting down because all my research was for naught. I thought I was gonna end up buying a phone that the emotional decision making part of my brain thought was meh.
I thought I'd ask about the latest HTC Sensation, but I heard the salesperson telling someone it cost around $550. Way out of my phone budget.
Finally I saw the Incredible S boxes on the shelf behind the salesperson. So I asked how much it cost. Only $45 more than the Desire S which was for $335, but it was just right!
I haven't decided yet if I'm gonna subscribe to a data plan. My friend told me it only costs $10 a month from my phone's balance for 100MB/month plan. That would actually be great since I never use up my balance (definitely have $10 leftover every month) and it keeps accumulating. Plus I wouldn't have to pay anything extra over what I'm currently paying. I will see if I need it.
For now, I giggle every time I turn the phone on, and thunder clouds part on the screen with a woosh sound and a touch of lightening. Weather is cloudy and thundery today after all! This weather app thing is cool!

Nice phone. With wifi at work and at home rarely use the data plan anyway. Enjoy it! Sometimes it's ok to decide emotionally because a lot of times i'll research something to death and i'll still be confused about it a week later. Usually this means all my options were good to start with and I would have enjoyed whatever I picked.
