Day 7: Oh bread, where art thou?!

I think I'm doing well. I'm not sure however, if I'm doing it right.

I mean sure, I've quit the carbs and the sugar. But that doesn't mean I don't boil with envy every time I watch Hala eat a grilled cheese sandwich. Even worse, Dad got those big Ka'k the other day. You know the ones, big, round, with a hole in the middle, and you can fill them with stuff. They smelled heavenly! Still warm, with sesame seeds on top.... and I couldn't have any!! Because of my stupid diet.

Here's what I don't miss. I don't miss rice, potatoes, or sugary treats. But the bread is killing me. Even when I was doing the low carb in Arizona, I still had my slice of bread with butter every single day. Not sure if this diet is going to last the whole month with me. I mean, quitting both bread and legumes is just not right!! I'm Lebanese, not Nordic. I'm descended from a long line of farmers that goes back at least 10,000 years if not more, and we eat a lot of wheat and legumes. Lentils and beans are our staples.

So today, I'm having a portion of sprouted lentils. I'm pretty sure our "paleolithic ancestors" would've found some beans growing somewhere and ate them. My stomach is demanding this!

I suspect I'm simply not getting enough calories. I may need to go buy some more meats and things and keep the fridge stocked. Apparently oatmeal is a big no-no, but we'll see. If I need the calories, then I'll probably just make a small dish.
