This is a wonderful talk by William McDonough on designing cradle to cradle. Something I think is absolutely essential to our world and hope to see it implemented worldwide within my life time, as it's already being test run in several products/areas etc.
This is just the talk for now, but I'll try and look for a bunch of information on how we can help do something about it in our everyday life.
Some Important Everyday Ideas that I do most of the time:
Use REUSABLE BAGS for your shopping. Take them with you from the supermarket to the grocer's. I also mostly throw my trash out in paper bags since those are biodegradable. I dry out any "wet" items before throwing them in. We don't have the same separation of organic and recyclable as in Germany, and I feel bad every time even when I use one of my supermarket plastic bags for the trash.
You can also reuse and recycle and help the environment in Lebanon. I had seen the reusable bags make their first appearance at Spinney's in the summer. Take advantage, because I remember all the nylon bags we put the veggies and things in, and the we never used and threw out! You can also take old paper clothes bag with when you go shopping for clothing and thereby not need/waste a new bag.
Enjoy the talk.
