The French Braid

Arms sore, muscles aching, and my heart pumping. You may be wondering if I just finished a workout. Nope. I just French braided my own hair! Hooray!

I've a thing for braids. After all, with my hair length, a braid would reach halfway down my back, so it's worth it. I managed before when I was in Arizona to figure out how to braid my own hair when I can't see a thing at the back of my head. However, the French braid has been heretofore an elusive and near impossible thing. I had tried several times and ended up with a mess on my head that looked suspiciously like a bird' nest that had been ravaged by a too eager cat.

This time, thanks to some nice instructions I found through Google on how to French braid one's own hair, I finally succeeded. Of course, it did take me a few tries the first time and I got a little frustrated, but I finally threw together something that looked more like a braid. Today, my second time around, it only took me two frustrating attempts before  I nailed it. It's a really nifty look! (Yup that's my word of the week: Nifty). And it's multi-talented too. If your braid is a even just a few inches long, you can roll it up into a braided loose bun in the back and pin it in place with a few hair pins. I was surprised. Now I'm wondering about all the things I could do with braiding.

I'm getting hopped up on Vitamin D again, and as a result, getting excited about silly things like braids again, ha. Now that summer is over and I'm no longer going to the beach, plus it's been getting cloudier, I've been feeling depressed almost constantly. So I take my vitamin D: 2 days in, and my childish overexcitedness is back! Yay :)
