Figure Skating

Figure skating is probably my favorite Olympic event. My favorite figure skating program is the men's. There's something really powerful and athletic when you see some guy who's been training for years to be able to pull off a quadruple-triple-triple jump combination at very high speeds. It's pretty awesome

Today is the pairs short program and tomorrow is the free program. I love watching the men throw their partners into the air and have her do three flips before landing gracefully on her foot. The men's short program will be on Tuesday evening (which means Wednesday morning on the other side of the Atlantic). Also there's going to be a bunch of Alpine skiing events and one more Speed Skating medal event. It was kind of cool watching the Netherlands win the 5000m. They talked so much about Shani Davis it started coming out of my ears! Sometimes I think American media forgets that competing athletes from other countries are just as formidable.

You know, this is proof positive that when you don't have a life, you have time to get a little too much into watching the Olympics :P

Also, just a correction, I'm watching the Olympics with Romanian not Russian commentary.
