This is for Wafaa. I was in Juan Les Pins (near Nice), France over the Christmas break. We were walking one afternoon in Nice and came across this piano player. If you don't mind my piano-naiveté, I thought he was pretty good:
It gets better. A sweet old lady then came by, told him that he was doing it all wrong and showed him how to really play the piano. (There's a chance I made up the last part).
They're both pretty good. The lady slightly better perhaps, she didn't seem to fight with the piano as much as he was.
ReplyDeleteI've noticed there are 3 ways of playing the piano. The beginners are like people just learning to ride horses: They hope the horse knows what he's doing and nervously try to stay on its back. The good ones have it tamed and music just flows. And for some people and because the piece is really powerful and difficult they fight the piano and forget about the music.
